LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATION

Use the checklist to keep track of your progress!

Certification Requirements

There are two components to completion: workshop attendance and assigned reflection.

Workshop Attendance

After enrollment in the program, there are three workshops that are required in order to be eligible to attend further workshops.

  1. The Social Change Model of Leadership Development (a workshop to introduce one example of Leadership Theory and Frameworks)
  2. Discovering Skills and Passions (a workshop to begin the journey of Personal Development)
  3. Introduction to Diversity and Intercultural Growth (a workshop to introduce the concept of self in relation to others and understand topics and issues of diversity).

Following these three required beginning workshops, students are then required to participate in one workshop of each of the themes introduced in the introductory workshops:

  1. One other workshop about Leadership Theory and Frameworks
  2. One other workshop about Personal Development
  3. One other workshop about Diversity

Next, students choose 8 additional workshops within any of these three themes.

Finally, once all of the above requirements have been completed, students will attend one final workshop.

  1. Assessing the Leadership Experience

Assigned Reflection

Every time the student completes 5 workshops, they will be asked to submit a short written reflection.  This reflection will be an opportunity for students to relate the concepts and topics learned to an experiential component of their own lives, such as involvement in a student group, an internship, a work experience, etc.  Reflections are meant to be an informal way for students to make meaning of their learning in the workshops.
